Importance of Forests:
Forests are advantageous for environment. They influence climate, reduce soil erosion, regulate stream flow, provide raw material for industries and livelihood for many, etc. They control wind force and temperature and cause rainfall. They also provide shelter to various animal species.
Medicinal Plants :
From ancient times. India is known for its herbs and spices Around 2.000 plants have been described in Ayurveda and at least 500 are in regular use. The World Conservation Union's Rec List has named 352 medicinal plants of which 52 are critically threatened and 49 endangered. Some commonly used medicinal plants in India along with their use are given below
